At Beaver Pest Control, we believe that creating social value goes hand in hand with running a responsible business. Our commitment extends beyond providing high-quality pest control servicesβwe also focus on supporting young people to take their first steps into the world of work, and into our industry.
Recently, we had the pleasure of welcomingΒ Riley, a 15-year-old student, for a week-long work experience placement. Rileyβs time with us gave him the opportunity to explore different aspects of our business and gain a true sense of what it takes to deliver an excellent service to customers.
A Week in the Life at Beaver
- Day One: Riley toured our offices, met the team, and dived straight into learning about the software and systems that keep our operations running smoothly. He also assisted with data reportingβan essential part of keeping clients informed.
- Day Two: Riley shadowed both our residential and corporate teams. He observed how we handle customer queries, from arranging technician visits for homeowners to communicating efficiently with large corporate clients.
- Day Three: Riley took on research and professional communication tasks, contacting independent hotels to gather valuable information. This gave him the chance to develop real-world business skills in a professional setting.
- Day Four: Riley reflected on his learning by creating a presentation summarising his experiences. From understanding customer care to appreciating the behind-the-scenes operations, he walked away with new knowledge and a clearer picture of the pest control industry.
Why This Matters
Work experience placements like Rileyβs are not just valuable for young peopleβtheyβre vital for our industry too. Pest control is a sector that requires skilled, dedicated professionals, and giving young people a chance to see the industry up close helps build awareness, interest, and future talent.
For Beaver Pest Control, this is part of our widerΒ Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitment. Supporting education and employability is one of the ways we createΒ corporate social valueΒ and contribute to our community. By opening our doors to students, we aim to inspire the next generation, share our expertise, and highlight the rewarding career paths available in pest management.
Looking Ahead
We are proud to have supported Riley in his first steps toward the world of work, and we look forward to welcoming more students in the future. By investing in young people today, we are helping to shape a stronger workforce for tomorrowβnot only for Beaver Pest Control but for the pest control industry as a whole.
