How do I know if I have a gull problem?

If you think you’ve spotted signs of a problem with gulls, you’re in the right place. This quick guide to gulls will help you understand what you are dealing with.

The most common gulls in the UK are the Herring gull (Larus argentatus) and Lesser black-backed gull (Larus fuscus). While they are most associated with costal towns, large gull populations can be found anywhere if there is available food. Once a breeding site is chosen, gulls will usually return to it every year so you will often find them returning during April and May each year to lay eggs. Gulls can lay up to 3 eggs each year, eggs will usually hatch after 30 days, the young will then take their first flight 10 days after hatching.

At Beaver we practice Integrated Pest Management (IPM). This is a sustainable approach to managing pests by combining biological, cultural, physical and chemical tools in a way that minimises economic, health, and environmental risks.
