If you think you’ve spotted signs of a problem with pigeons, you’re in the right place. This quick guide to pigeons will help you understand what you are dealing with.

The feral pigeon (Columba livia) is widespread in cities, towns and rural areas across the UK. Pigeons can have up to seven broods a year between March and July. Eggs will typically hatch in 18 days, and with enough access to food, the young pigeons will become independent adults in just 30 days. More eggs can be hatched before the young leave the nest so the population growth is rapid. Pigeons have a social hierarchy so more dominant birds in a flock will feed first. Flocks can range from 50-400+ birds.
